Modela Machine

Until now i study only the programmer board but how it is made and which machine i have to be use that will be cover in this section

The Modela is one of the most used machines in our FabLab. Its a tiny desktop CNC that can mill PCBs, create 3D models on wax and even scan in 3D. It is preferred for making PCBs using FR-1 boards as it doesn’t leave any chemical wastes.

It has a small bed which moves in the Y-axis, a Tool head which moves in the X-axis and the end effector which moves in the Z-axis. It supports many milling bits and is easy to use.

Setting of machine for milling

1.First set the pcb board on which i have to mill that set on the bed of modela machine which work as y-axis.For this i take the single sided fr-1 board. and i take the double sided tape and put on that board and stick that board on the bed of modela and tight the bed equally all side.

2.Its time to select ecxact bit for process.there are no.of bits used for milling and cutting of pcb board but we are using the (1/64 ")bit for milling and (1/32")bit for cutting the board.

By using the alen key or screw we have to tight that bit.and moving it downwords to the bed.

our instructor told us about how drill bit get breakdown the main reson is if we not set the gravity to the drill bit.For this we have to slow down the x-axis towords the bed then loose the bit and touch it to the bed by gravity and then tight it.this is called gravity setting of drill bit

if we dont set drill bit correctly then no.of things happen like milling process can not work correctly the drill bit move only above the bwd ,then breakdown of drill bit so this is important thing while setting the modela machine.

Some times we move the drill bit towards the bed to much and the gap is decreses and because of this drill bit cannot go through the board and it cannot cut the board so always maintian the gap.

with taking this all precaution my bed is ready to mill.

Conclusion

In this section i learn the new machine actually in my college i used the iron to mill the board means i take the image on photopaper and press it on fr-1 with press.and then dopping it in chemical and its other part is remove but it takes large time and waste of chemical is more. and accuracy is very less. but this modela machin is very easy to handle i learn the all settings of modela here.
